Despite beautiful year-round sun and warm weather, sometimes some rain must fall, prompting the need to change ones plans and enjoy some of Playa’s other attractions. Here are some places that we recommend visiting.
Going to the beach is one of the many reason people visit Playa del Carmen, a city which has virtually unrestricted access all along its coastline. But inevitably one must deal with the weather, which can often bring rain unannounced, forcing us to take refuge and change our plans. In today’s blog we will offer you some great alternatives as to what you can do when the weather prevents you from enjoying some sun tanning or swimming.
Go Shopping at La Quinta Alegria
This beautiful mall is located on 5th Avenue and Constituyentes and is completely covered, offering a great refuge from the elements, with many things to see and do. You can grab a coffee at Starbucks, shop for clothes at Forever 21, try on some sunglasses at Oakley, or check out some computer products and accessories at iShop which is dedicated to all things Mac related, including repairs. If you are hungry, make sure to visit Sanborns on the top floor, they have a large selection of traditional Mexican dishes that are delicious.
Go for Coffee
Playa’s 5th Avenue has no shortage of places where you can sit and have a coffee and spend time surfing the internet on your phone, tablet or laptop using the Wifi. We recommend Ah Cacao, which has three locations between Constituyentes Avenue and 40th street. They offer free Wifi to their clients and their mocha coffees are made with real cacao.
Visit the 3D Museum Of Wonders
Located on 10th avenue and 10th street, his museum was designed to be completely interactive, with a collection of paintings that are designed as a backdrop to fascinating photo opportunities. All you have to do is bring your cell phone or DSLR camera and take turns capturing your family and friends standing in front of the large images, making it appear as if you are actually in the paintings themselves!
Go to the Aquarium
Open from 11 am – 9 pm every day, Playa del Carmen’s aquarium has over 200 species of marine life in 45 exhibits, It takes up three floors and has guides to explain the various exhibits, in both English and Spanish, so it’s a great place for you and your family to learn about the Caribbean’s inhabitants, including coral, starfish, jellyfish, rays and sharks.
It is located inside of the Calle Corazon shopping plaza, so when you have finished viewing the fish you can grab a bite to eat or check out some of the mall’s stores like H&M, Steve Madden and Calvin Klein.
